| Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is the scientific
methodology for evaluating the validity of research in clinical medicine
and applying the results of this research to the care of individual patients
and populations. It provides the rationale for the development of practice
guidelines and health policy, and augments individual physician preference
or experience with sound science.
To help physicians and other health professionals integrate EBM into
their treatment of older patients, the PPE tool kits are based on current clinical guidelines in the evaluation and treatment of the geriatric syndromes and conditions they address. |
